Cap rocks or seals are a critical component for the accumulation of oil and gas deposits. In recent years, cap rocks have been the subject of interest for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) schemes, the same impermeable barriers being used to hold back plumes of CO2.
Not all cap rocks are equal. Variation in lithology, mineralogy and rock mechanical properties can affect the effectiveness as a seal to hydrocarbon accumulations and CO2 plumes.
Future Geoscience has the right tools and expertise to offer in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of reservoir seals whether they are for traditional hydrocarbon fields or CO2 storage facilities.
We deliver:
- Detailed seal mineralogical composition
- Rock mechanical properties
- Maximum hydrocarbon/CO2 column height (Hmax)
